After tackling life as a single parent for the past 10 years, I've come to recognize both the beauty and challenges of solo parenting. When everything from running your household, finding success at work, and managing finances to caring for sick kids, being involved in your child's classroom, and finding balance falls on you - life can often feel overwhelming.

It Takes a Village was formed to help answer the question, “How can we improve the lives of single parents in our community?"

Our mission is to strengthen the single-parent community by creating connections that grow their support system and providing simple access to information and resources to empower them in their journey.

The team that has formed around this mission is made up of incredibly caring women with a passion for children and parents, and for bettering the lives of others. Though none, other than myself, are single parents themselves, they have devoted endless time and energy to asking questions and seeking out stories to help them understand the experiences of single parents. I am grateful for their empathy, drive, commitment, and vision for what It Takes a Village could look like in the future.

It is my sincere hope that together, we can provide support, mentorship, knowledge, and connection for single parents in Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo, and the surrounding area. And, maybe a bit selfishly, I'm looking forward to finding those same things for myself along the way.
